Retirement Visa Indonesia: How to Secure One

Foreigners who want to retire in Indonesia should apply for the Retirement Visa, which allows them to stay for up to six years. Retirement visa holders can also travel in and out of the country on multiple occasions, obtain a driver’s license, and open a bank account.

A. Retirement Visa Indonesia: When Will You Need One?

A retirement visa is required if you are a foreign citizen aged 55 or older and wish to retire in Indonesia. This visa allows you to stay in the country for an extended period. You can still visit your home country once you have obtained your visa, as an Indonesian retirement visa allows you to enter and exit the country as many times* as you want.

*Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Indonesian immigration policy and travel advisory are prone to changes. Contact our visa specialist to keep updated with the latest regulations.

B. What Are The Requirements for A Retirement Visa in Indonesia?

Although a retirement visa or KITAS in Indonesia allows you to stay in the country for an extended period, it does not allow you to work and earn money. As a result, you must provide proof of deposit or a pension account with annual funds of USD 2,000 and a bank statement for the previous three months.

In addition to a pension fund, you must have life and health insurance, have leased a place to live for at least a year and hire a local helper or maid once you have settled down.

It should be noted, however, that Indonesia currently only allows foreigners from 60 countries to obtain retirement visas. Check to see if you qualify for an Indonesia retirement visa by contacting our visa specialist.
