A. Dependent Visa Indonesia: When Will You Need One?

A dependent visa, also known as a family reunion visa in Indonesia, is a document that allows foreigners to bring their families with them while settling in the country. A dependent visa, in particular, provides a work permit or KITAS holders to bring their spouse and children under 18.

A dependent visa is technically sponsored by the company that sponsored the foreigner’s work permit or KITAS. However, foreign citizens with Indonesian-dependent visas are not permitted to work or earn income from Indonesian companies.

Before a foreigner’s family can apply for an Indonesian-dependent visa, they must first enter the country on a limited stay visa (VITAS). When they arrive, their VITAS will be converted into an Indonesian family visa or dependent visa.

B. Dependent Visa in Indonesia: Eligibility and Requirements

An Indonesian family reunion visa or dependent visa is valid for the duration of the KITAS that sponsors it. To obtain one for your family members, you must provide necessary documents such as a marriage certificate, children’s birth certificates, and a copy of passports for at least 18 months.

It is also worth noting that the application process for a dependent visa in Indonesia is entirely online and does not require you to visit an embassy or consulate-general office.
