Permanent Stay Permit (KITAP)

Obtaining a KITAP Indonesia: The Easiest Way

Obtaining a KITAP Indonesia may be the ultimate goal for any foreign citizen planning to stay in the country for an extended period, as it provides many advantages over other stay permits. However, the Indonesian government makes it difficult for you to obtain one. As a reputable visa agency in Indonesia, we can advise you on the simplest way to get a KITAP.

A. KITAP Indonesia: When Will You Need One?

Indonesia’s natural beauty and friendly people have enticed many foreigners to settle for the long term. If you are one of them, you will require KITAP Indonesia to help you adjust to your new life in the country.

A KITAP, for example, allows its holders to stay in Indonesia for up to five years and two years of multiple entries. KITAP holders have two options after it expires: extend it for another five years or convert it to an unlimited KITAP. Foreigners who have converted to an unlimited KITAP only need to report to the Indonesian immigration office once every five years instead of annually.

B. What Are The Requirements for KITAP Indonesia?

The Indonesian government only issues a KITAP to foreigners with a KITAS (limited stay permit), and the KITAP requirements are stringent. Those who are eligible for KITAP Indonesia include:

  1. Foreigners who have been married to an Indonesian citizen for at least two years (spouse-sponsored KITAS holders)
  2. Foreign investors, directors, or commissioners in a PT PMA or Limited Liability Company (current Indonesian investor visa holder for three consecutive years)
  3. Foreigners considering retiring in Indonesia (holders of an Indonesian retirement visa)
  4. Indonesians who are attempting to reclaim their citizenship
