A. Investor KITAS Indonesia: When Will You Need One?
If you are a foreign investor looking to hire foreign experts to help you with your investment, you should consider hiring an Indonesian investor KITAS. Once your company is fully operational, an Indonesian investor, KITAS, can save you USD 12,000 in annual work permit fees.
In Indonesia, there are two types of investors, KITAS or investment visas: Index 313, which allows investors to stay in the country for one year and Index 314, which will enable investors to stay for two years. Both permit multiple entries and exits from the government.
B. What Are the Requirements for an Investor KITAS in Indonesia?
Foreigners who are the director or commissioners of a company in Indonesia must invest a minimum of IDR 1.1 billion in obtaining an investor KITAS. If the investors do not hold such positions in the company, they must invest at least IDR 1.125 billion to become an investor in KITAS Indonesia.
Your newly established company is eligible to support you for an investor KITAS after receiving a business registration number (Nomor Induk Berusaha – NIB) and business licenses (Izin Usaha).
To obtain one, you must also provide supporting documentation, such as a signed application letter and company registration documents. C. Can You Work with an Indonesian Investor KITAS?
A company’s director with an investor KITAS is eligible to work in Indonesia, according to the Ministry of Investment of Indonesia (BKPM). They must, however, meet specific requirements, such as:
- All tasks assigned to the director must be within the company’s business activities scope.
- The company gives all Indonesians who want to work equal opportunities.
On the other hand, a company commissioner may be in a different situation. According to the Ministry of Manpower, a commissioner can collaborate with a KITAS investor, but this position has a limited role.
